Your accounts
Add the accounts you use — checking, savings, cash, a card, or an asset like a car. Thrift creates a Cash account for you on first launch so you can start immediately; add the rest under Wealth › Accounts whenever you like. Each account carries a balance that moves as you log.
Balances stay honest
Every transaction adjusts the right account, so balances track reality. If one ever looks off — after an import, say — Rebuild Balances recomputes it from the transaction log, so the number always traces back to entries you can see.
Net worth
Net worth is simply assets minus liabilities — everything you own, less what you owe — across every account you keep. It’s the single figure that says where you actually stand.
Net worth over time
Beyond today’s number, Thrift charts how net worth moves over months and years as you log, so you can see the trend rather than a snapshot.
