Thrift

Reading your Insights

At each month's close, Thrift writes up what happened in plain sentences — what moved, what it means, and what to do about it.

Insights is the reflection side of Thrift. Instead of a live dashboard to decode, it waits until a period is complete and then tells you the story of it — in sentences you can read in about ten seconds.

A reflection, not a dashboard

Insights covers finished periods — a closed month, or a closed year. Because the period is done, the numbers are final, and the screen can be a written summary rather than a set of gauges you have to interpret.

What’s inside

A month’s write-up pulls together the things worth knowing:

  • Spent and earned, and the share of income you kept.
  • Category movers — what changed, and by how much.
  • Budget health — where you landed against your plan.
  • Goal progress — how the month moved your goals.

The movers

The most useful part is comparison: not just what you spent, but what changed against the months before it. A category that jumped or fell is surfaced with the number attached, so a trend is obvious without hunting for it.

The verdict

Each write-up ends in a plain-sentence takeaway — something like “You saved 34% of what you earned.” It’s the meaning, without the decoding.

Monthly and yearly

The monthly reflection arrives every month. At the close of the year there’s a yearly review that sums it up.

Gold. The yearly review is part of Thrift Gold. The monthly reflection is free.

You can share a summary card of any period, if you want a record of it.
