Say it, shoot it, or tap it in.
Speak a sentence and Thrift reads the amount, the merchant and the category out of it — on your phone by default, not sent to a server. Recurring bills post themselves, so the ledger stays honest without the bookkeeping.

ScaleThis month
What's left, not what's gone.
One budget per category, set once. What you don't spend carries into next month instead of evaporating on the 1st — so a quiet month pays for a loud one, and restraint is rewarded rather than reset.
- LimitsPer-category caps set in seconds. Recurring bills post automatically, so the numbers match reality.
- RolloverUnspent money carries forward. A lean month funds the next one.
- SignalOver or under shows on the figure itself. No badges, no nagging.
This month21 budgets. One over.
ScaleThis year
The year, told back to you.
Each month Thrift writes up what moved, what it means, and what to do next — and by the year's close they add up to one plain review you read in ten seconds, not a dashboard you have to decode.
- MoversWhat changed and by how much — month over month, and against last year.
- VerdictPlain sentences, not a chart to interpret — the meaning, without the decoding.
- RecordA shareable summary each month, and a full review when the year closes.
The verdictYou saved 43% of what you earned this year.

Where all of it is actually going.
Every account on one line, tracked over time. Real investment returns rather than a guessed average. And a date — the month your money could cover your life without you.
- Net worthAssets less liabilities, charted as you log, across every account you keep.
- ReturnsInvestments measured by XIRR, with allocation — the real number, not an average.
- FreedomYour FI number and Coast-FI, so "someday" resolves into a month and a year.

Notes
The difference that matters
Your finances never leave your device — no servers to breach, nothing to sell.
Encrypted
SQLCipher at rest. Your ledger is encrypted on-device, its key held in secure hardware.
Locked
Face ID / Touch ID on top. A glance opens it — and nothing else does.
No banks
Zero connections. Thrift never links to your bank; you choose what goes in.
Nothing sold
No analytics, no ads, no brokers. We can't sell what we never collect.
Simple, honest pricing
Free to keep. Gold to go further.
The daily habit costs nothing. Gold opens the wealth side — net worth over time, investments, the FI tracker, and the automation that keeps it all current.

Good questions
Asked and answered.
Does anything ever leave my phone?
Your transactions never do. Three features reach the network and you control all three: exchange rates, fetched for multi-currency totals; investment-broker import, if you connect one; and an optional AI parsing mode for receipts and voice, off by default and using a key you supply. Everything else is local. The detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Why no bank connection?
Because the friction is the feature. An app that imports your spending silently is an app you stop reading. Writing the line yourself takes about two seconds, and those two seconds are when you actually notice what you spent.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Logging, budgets, insights, net worth, and voice and receipt capture all run on the phone with no connection. Exchange rates are fetched when you're online and cached for when you're not.
What if I lose the phone?
Make an encrypted backup and keep it wherever you like — it's a single file that only your passphrase opens. Restore it on a new phone and the book comes back. Thrift is single-device by design; that's what keeps it private.
Which platforms?
iPhone and Android — Thrift is on the App Store and Google Play.
Do you sell my data?
No — there is nothing to sell. Your financial data stays on your device, and the app ships with no analytics, ad SDKs or trackers in it. The business is the app, not the person using it.
